UX Design Practicum
This final design course serves as a capstone experience for the design program. Students will author their own project where they will identify a problem and design an appropriate solution. Students are encouraged to choose projects that will propel them to the next stage after graduation.
This course includes a final exhibition which is reviewed by outside design professionals. On completion of the course, each student must submit a process book for final project and documentation of work completed in the senior year.

Design Photography
This course provides an introduction to the technical and creative aspects of digital photography as it relates to the field of Design. Topics covered in this course range from the creation of imagery for design projects to the documentation of products. Some of the tools and techniques covered in this course include lighting, Photoshop, image manipulation, collage, printing, digital distribution and display.

Design & Technology
This course is designed to offer hands-on training in the essential software tools used by graphic design professionals. During class, students will engage in guided tutorials and exercises, following along with the instructor to learn key features and techniques. For example, students will use Photoshop to edit and enhance photographs for print, web, or motion graphics applications. In addition to class exercises, students will maintain a weekly journal to reflect on their progress and skills development throughout the course.

Bio
Rushing is a Louisiana native who has called New Orleans home for over the past decade. He is a visual designer and graphic artist with an interest in software and digital experiences. Outside of class, he runs a freelance business working with clients and agencies bringing branding, web, and traditional media projects to life.
Before working in higher education and freelance, Rushing worked in marketing and advertising with nationally known clients. Later in his career, he shifted to working in tech companies on enterprise UX/UI and software design. In his own work, he enjoys exploring illustration, traditional art, hand crafts, and he is inspired by video games and interactive experiences.
